Mardin houses

Since the air temperature is high in Mardin, flat, high-roofed houses are used. In summer evenings, family members gather here and spend time and even sleep here most of the time. Since stone is easy to find and work is easy in Mardin, more stone houses are built. The gardens have high walls so that the ladies can spend a comfortable time at home. To catch the wind, the houses are oriented south so that cool air enters the house and cools the house.
