Do people control technology or does the technology control people?

In my opinion techology is controlling us. Yes, technology made our life better but also technology made us addicted to itself. We can't even spend any time without technology. And i think in the future we will be not able to shape technology as we want after a while because for me technology has limits. I was confused about this question i wonder your opinions.
 
"Some" people control people with using the technology. So technology is just a mediator. But anyway, we can say the technology controls people.
 
It would be wrong to say that only technology rules people. Social media also rules people. For example, there is a social media platform called TikTok. People are doing very risky things because of the platforms like this.
 
Who controls the information controls the world.
