I have an MSI GT680 gaming laptop with USB 3.0 controller. After a fresh Windows install, I have installed USB 3.0 driver but saw that the controller can not be started. I have updated the firmware but no luck. Then I got into the BIOS and saw xHCI Hand-Off setting. It was set to Disabled. I have enabled it and then saved the settings. Came back to Windows and voila! It started to work perfectly.
