EDIT: After further testing I've updated the RT LIGHT settings. These should be much more attainable for a 3060ti at 45-60 FPS.
KEEP IN MIND that the CPU requirements actually increased with the 2.0 update, and RT effects are very CPU intensive. Your RT performance will vary from mine depending on your CPU. Especially older Ryzen professors.
Ive been doing some testing in the into with a 9700k and a 3060ti at 1440p. Make sure to set Crowd Density to Med for all of these.
You've basically got 3 options. If you've seen the Digital Foundry optimized settings video, this will be very similar.
Option 1: No RT. You can jack up most settings to Ultra and get great FPS, if you experience dips you can drop everything to High for VERY little hit to image quality. I would stick with DLSS set to Balanced, but you can change to Quality if you want a more stable image. There lots of headroom without RT so you can change stuff around to suit your needs.
Option 2: RT LIGHT. Set everything to High and drop Cascade Shadow Res and Volumetric Cloud Quality to Med, and Ambient Occlusion to Low. Turn RT Lighting to MEDIUM. TURN OFF RT REFLECTIONS AND RT SUN SHADOWS. You can decide if RT Local Shadows are worth it for you. DLSS to Balanced. This will keep the game sharp and net you around 45-50 FPS on the low end, but typically runs above 60 for the most part. These are the settings I will probably use for my playthrough. If you need more FPS, drop Cascade Shadow to Low. If you need a large boost to FPS drop DLSS to Performance.
Option 3. RT FULL. Use the same graphic settings as above, except Enable RT Pathtracing. Enable Ray Reconstruction. DLSS set to Performance. You can also turn Volumetric Res to Low if you want but smoke and volumetrics will look a bit blocky. This will net you around 30-45 FPS on average BUT can drop to the 20s in certain scenes. I would only recommend this mode if you REALLY want pathtracing. It looks insane, but the entire image will be much less defined, and a bit ghosty. Would only really play like this at a locked 30.
I've done some testing with the Pathtracing with Ray Reconstruction on and it does look better overall but also has some serious drawbacks. I've noticed during the rain, especially at night, RR loses A LOT of texture detail on the wet roads. So much so that you cant even see rain drops hitting the road, they get completely denoised away. Which sucks, because thats when the game looks its most striking in my opinion.
Theres still some testing I need to do but this is a good starting point for a 3060ti.
