"An intermediary is any person that acts as a custodian, broker, nominee, or otherwise as an agent for another person, regardless of whether that other person is the beneficial owner of the amount paid, a flow-through entity, or other intermediary. If you are an agent acting as an intermediary, select ‘Yes’. For example, a publishing company/individual would typically not be considered an agent where:
1. The publishing company/individual has the right to license content to Amazon, and
2. Amazon pays the publishing company/individual a license fee under an agreement directly with the publishing company/individual.

In contrast, a publishing company would typically be considered an agent if:
1. The publishing company’s client has contracted directly with Amazon to license the content, and
2. Amazon pays the publishing company who is only collecting payment on behalf of their client.
