After upgrading to Windows 8 64 Bit, I was unable to run AoE Online. The game was giving 800B0100 error. Today, I have figured it out.
Place your mouse to the left bottom of the screen and then perform a right click. Now select Programs and Features from the list.
From here, remove anything related to Games for Windows Live.
After that, download the latest client from here:
Download the Games for Windows Client | PC Games Client - Xbox.com
Run the installer. Laucnh GFWL and login to your account. Now AoE should work properly. Mine works
