Upgrading Iomega ix2-200 to Cloud Edition

Take the disks out, remove partitions and format the drives. Then do the steps again, twice.

The disks have no partitions on them.

When you say format the drives, that would imply formatting them to NTFS/FAT32/EXT3?

Yes, format and then do a partiton removing, again.

I formated both drives, then removed the partitions on both of them leaving them blank. I put them back into my ix2-200, plugged in my USB Thumb drive, held in the reset button, and powered it up. The USB drive never started blinking after a few minutes of holding the reset button and the white LED on the front is blinking...Any ideas?

If it's of any use, the first time I did this, it worked. The flash drive blinked, it created a temp folder on the usb drive. However when I went to do it for the second time, the front LED has just been blinking white and nothing happens. Is it possible that the device is bricked?

Anyone? I have a bricked device now...not sure what to try?

Well it looks like my device is no more than a paperweight now. My educated guess would be that something happened during the firmware update/flash that damaged the NAND. I've read about people getting a serial adapter, connecting it to the JP1 connector on the IX2-200 Board, and reloading the firmware through TFPT, but I don't have the cables or experience to do this.

Just a warning to anyone looking to do this, this can BRICK your entire device. Wishing I left mine alone.
If anyone has any input on how to reasonably fix this, please let me know.

Great! Greetings to all forum members! Dear Burak Alkan, today I upgraded my ix2-200 version of the cloud following your instructions and everything worked perfectly! Now I have a ix2-200 Cloud Version. Thanks for your work!

In an attempt to get an external USB hard drive to mount writable, I ssh'd to the ix2-200 and edited the fstab file, adding a /dev/sdc1 line. Now it doesn't boot - just a flashing LED. Can I try one of these methods to get the device to boot and not lose the data on the drives? Be nice to not have to connect to the serial port or USB key. Thanks!

You will not loose any data with this 3 methods....

I'm not sure if i understand exactly what you are asking....

Did you try the iomega support? Or this site...

Like to help but do not know how...

Hi,

I recently performed the upgrade (thanks for the help) I have been unable to get the personal cloud to properly run. I click on the personal cloud settings on the device webpage and get a constant spinning ball saying processing. I have clicked on the personal cloud in the Iomega app and gotten the message that the pcloudd service is not started. Any ideas on why this may not be working; was there any change beyond firmware when they released cloud edition?

I have found no information in searching online for cloud troubleshooting, no one else seems to have this problem.

Thanks
