Upgrading Iomega ix2-200 to Cloud Edition

Hello!, I have got a Iomega Ix2-200d Cloud Edition that I shuted down incorrectly and can´t restart now (white LED continously blinking, with the two 2x2TB disks, and even with any one of them alone too). My question is: is the described method in this post still valid for Ix2-200d Cloud Edition?
Thanks a lot, Sergio.
PD: it seems very unstable that this system cracks just because of incorrect shut down??.

hi guys,

Some times happen the same with me but if you unpluged the calbe power and press the power button for 15 seconds and then connect the power cable again the NAS start normally.
Works with me....

cheers

axukar, thanks for your help,
can you confirm me if the following process it's ok:

1) unplug cable power
2) press the power button for 15 seconds
3) release the power button
4) connect the power again.

one more question: do you have NAS ix2-200 non-cloud converted to cloud?

regards.

hi,

your steps are correct.

this is the mail send by the iomega support

I contacted support who suggested the following 3 solutions ...

Solution 1
First, please try power cycling the device. To do this, whilst the unit is on, pull the power cable directly from the unit. Then keep the power button held in for 15 seconds.
After that ,reconnect the power cable and boot the device. Does this change the LED Status at all?

Solution 2
Please try and reset the device to factory defaults. This is performed by pressing and keeping the reset button held in for 15 seconds
Let me know the exact response you get when doing this.

Solution3
Please try booting the unit with only 1 disk in the second slot. Let me know how this goes. (will not invalidate any warranty)

Hello, I tried reinstalling the OS (ix2-200 that was previously converted to cloud edition and on 3.2.3 fw) as i had problems with torrents after trying to install transmission.
Now, after having wiped the drives with EASEUS as advised, the unit won't flash anymore from usb. After about 5 minutes, as already described in other posts, the unit red light blinks briefly and then power cycles. I tried 3 different usb sticks, no luck, wiped the disks completely with 1 pass.
Do I need to do anything to initialize the drives before trying flashing again? Do I need to decompress the .tgz file manually?

Thanks!!

Try to change the folder name on USB stick from ix2_200d_images to ix2_200_images and try to flash.

Hope it helps.

I experienced the same torrent problem. Try rename X:\emctools\ix2-200d_images to X:\emctools\ix2-200_images

For me the procedure started. However the ix2 nerver shut down as it states in the guide. After waiting for about 20 min, i got bored and pulled the plug when i experienced no disk activity. When i restarted the ix2, i was able to acces web interface and a downgraded os to 3.1.12....

Hi all. Many thanks for this! I updated just fine using this and other blogs/forums as guides for other stuff. I did upgrade to the 3.2.3 firmware as well no problem. However, it looks like there is a new 3.2.6.17887 firmware out (released April 20 2012, but did not show up in the Update section of the ix2-200 web backend) and I was wondering if anyone had tested it out yet.

Any info would be great. Thanks again!

Hi all.

First off just want to say thanks to those that helped put this thread together.

I'm hoping you can help me.
I bought two new 2TB WesternDigital Hard drives and Wiped them with EaseUs Partition Manager (no partions on the drive). I put them in my Ix2-200 and followed the instructions on the first page. The first time I loaded the USB stick I could see it blinking after 70 seconds, and it created the temp folder and shutdown automatically after 5min. But when I went to do it a second time, it doesn't read the USB stick and just has a continuously blinking white LED. My device is not accessible through the web and isn't asking for an IP via DCHP on my router. Any ideas?

Please help!!

I'm in pretty much the same situation. I have a USB drive that definitely blinked as expected (4-6 after about 60 seconds, then 2 more after 10 more, then a lot for a while), and then shutdown as expected. But after I powered it back up, I've never been able to get anywhere. I can tell from my DHCP server that it's asking for an IP, but the front LED is just blinking rapid white. I've tried reflashing it, but I never get the continuous flashing on the thumb drive again. I've tried re-pulling the drives and putting them in a dock and wiping the partitions again, but no luck. I must be missing something?

I'm having the same exact issue, were you able to fix yours?
